Another cervical cancer vaccine could soon be available as an alternative option to prevent the leading cause of cervical cancer in U.S. women.A federal health panel approved the long delayed Cervarix saying it appears safe and effective for girls and women ages 10 to 25.

The FDA is expected to approve the drug that would compete against Gardasil which has controlled the U.S. market since 2006.

Also on Wednesday, an advisory committee is discussing whether to approve Gardasil for use in boys as well as girls.
