Soldier Field re-sod for Sunday's game

December 2, 2009 (CHICAGO) The playing surface at Soldier Field was re-sod over the last four days, costing the Chicago Park District $250,000. It will be finished in time for the Bears game against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

The grass was replaced after the band U2 performed there in September-- before the Bears home opener. But the field's condition deteriorated over the football season, which is a common problem for outdoor stadiums in the northern part of the country.
