Study: Tylenol may help broken hearts

December 24, 2009 Researchers gave one group of college-age students 1 to 2,000 milligram doses of Acetaminophen -best known as Tylenol - per day while giving another group placebos.

Functioning MRI's on both groups during simulated social rejection, showed those taking acetaminophen had reduced neural responses to the rejection than those on the placebo.

Researchers theorize brain processing of physical pain may overlap with the processing of emotional pain.

The study will appear in the journal Psychological Science.
