Mother of slain Fenger student speaks out

Randall White is charged with first degree murder.

Prosecutors say he shot and killed 16-year-old Fred Couch outside a South Side convenience store last Thursday. The two allegedly got into a confrontation there.

On Tuesday, White appeared in bond court. He was supposed to serve six years in prison for an unrelated crime but only served two years behind bars.

"That man been in an out of jail all his life so how was he one of the chosen ones to come home from jail. Then he come home and repeat and kill my baby, a 16-year-old. That's not fair," said Tojuna Smith, victim's mother.

Couch was a student at Fenger High School. His father was shot to death in 1993.
