ATF burns Bensenville townhomes

The purposeful burning of vacant Bensenville homes is designed to train investigators to qualify as expert witnesses in fire origin and cause determinations.

The fires were scheduled to be set around 770 E. Irving Park Rd., Bensenville beginning about 10 a.m.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives usually conducts this training at its facility in Georgia but moved it for the first time ever to take advantage of the realistic setting.
