The driver of the car ran from the scene. Police were looking for that driver Tuesday morning.
One person was killed after being ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over on the expressway. Two others, a 15 and 18-year-old remained hospitalized in critical condition.
"Me and my son saw a car caught up in the air over there. It was spinning and landed on its tail. It kept sliding and sparking as it came down," said witness Alfredo Rodriguez said.
State police shut down the expressway for nearly five hours as part of their investigation.
