The family said that infant Liliana Galvez would normally wake them, but they said she did not Saturday.
The Cook County medical examiner determined that the baby died from blunt head trauma caused by child abuse.
A town spokesperson said Sunday afternoon that police were investigating.
Authorities said they had not made any arrests.
