On this ABC 7 special presentation hosted by Janet Davies, along with contributions from Michelle Alegria, Doug Banks and Mark Nilsson, a place for viewers was saved on the red carpet during the celebrated musical's dazzling opening night in Chicago! Brimming with the amazing music of Elton John, the Tony Award-winning Billy Elliot has come to the Ford Center for the Performing Arts for an open run, after capturing the hearts of audiences around the world! Davies offers a behind-the-scenes peak at the star-studded event and a rare interview with legendary performer Sir Elton John, who shares the parallels between the character of "Billy" and what happened in his own life. Then, the spotlight turns to the four, talented young performers who act, dance and sing in the musical. They talk about what it's like being chosen for the thrilling but demanding role of "Billy". In addition, this special presentation looks at how the creative team transitioned the story of Billy Elliot from film, to the joyous, feel-good stage production that garnered ten prestigious Tony Awards in 2009. Also featured is a tour of the costume shop's vintage 1908 wardrobe.
