Stevens, who is a big Cubs fan, was given a team jacket at an annual meeting of judges and lawyers who work in the federal appeals court in Chicago.
Stevens is a Chicago native with longtime ties to the city.
Solicitor general Elena Kagen was also at the dinner. She is said to be one of the leading candidates to succeed the retiring justice.
Judge Diane Wood, another contender for the Supreme Court position was also at Monday night's meeting.
