Brain fitness program could improve memory

July 15, 2010

Researchers at the University of California at San Francisco wanted to find out if a brain fitness program would help improve memory.

Older healthy adults trained on a computer program designed to improve visual memory. Participants were scored before using the game and then a week after. Visual memory was shown to improve by about 10 percent. That brought their memory levels up to those of younger adults.

While their memory seemed to improve for a short period, researchers do not yet know if the program will have a lasting effect.
