More riders on Amtrak's Chicago-St. Louis route

August 9, 2010 (CHICAGO) Ridership between Chicago and St. Louis is up 11-percent over last year. Amtrak says more than a half million passengers took that route from October of 2009 and last month.

Amtrak says the Chicago- St. Louis route is one of its most popular lines.

Federal stimulus money will be used to add high-speed trains on the route. The 110-mile-an-hour trains will reduce travel time by 90 minutes between the two cities and allow for additional daily round trips.
