Chicago Urban League names new leader

September 1, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Andrea Zopp, 53, is a longtime business and civic leader who's worked closely with the civil rights organization for several years.

The Urban League says the decision was made after an extensive nation search.

"It is truly a privilege to lead this organization which for more than 90 years has fought on behalf of African Americans for economic, education and social justice," said Andrea Zopp, Chicago Urban League.

Mostly recently Zopp has been executive vice president at the Exelon Corporation. In addition to previous corporate positions, for six years she was first assistant state's attorney in Cook County.
