Train derailment forces Red Line passengers off

January 1, 2011 (CHICAGO)

CTA officials say an out-of-service train inside the train yard derailed at the Howard Station on Chicago's Far North Side.

Another nearby train carrying passengers was not able to get into that station. Power had to be shut down, and about 55 people were taken off that train.

Shuttle buses were called in to transport riders.

Three people were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but they are all okay.
