The crash happened at 6:35 a.m. on the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) near the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355), according to a dispatcher with the Illinois State Police Elgin District.
Traffic has been snarled, as a result.
Four vehicles are involved in the crash, located in the inbound lanes of the expressway just past Woodward Avenue, the dispatcher said.
It was not immediately known what caused the crash or if anyone was hurt, the dispatcher said.
State police are investigating.
