The fliers posted at Hancock High School asked students to participate in the `No Derogatory Language Campaign." The fliers listed slurs for Latinos, who are 90 percent of Hancock's students, African-Americans, whites and Jews
Principal Pamela Glynn tells the Chicago Tribune several students said they didn't want to see the words posted, so it was quickly decided to take them down.
Although she knew the fliers were provocative, Glynn said she didn't have a problem with them until students began to complain.
She said the fliers weren't meant to offend, but to raise awareness of how damaging language can be.
