This weekend, the National Public Housing Museum is bringing in Hollywood celebrities to honor public housing luminaries.
Actress Regina Taylor joined us in our ABC7 studio to talk about the museum's second annual Afternoon of Good Times. The event is built around the sitcom "Good Times," which was based on Chicago's recently demolished Cabrini Green.
The mistress of ceremony for the event is Thelma from "Good Times," actress Bern Nadette Stanis, who is the museum's national spokesperson.
Among the awardees are film and television producer Reuben Cannon (Harold Ickes), retired bookkeeper Inez Medor (original resident Jane Addams) and LAC President Francine Washington (Stateway Gardens).
The National Public Housing Museum is slated to open in 2012. It will be located in the last remaining building of the Jane Addams Homes.
