Paramedics save man's life at Bike the Drive

May 29, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The 72-year-old victim was one among thousands of riders who were out on Lake Shore Drive Sunday morning. Paramedics from Engine Company No. 98 say the man had suffered a heart attack and bystanders were performing CPR on him.

"We got there, we were able to put a monitor on him, shock him and bring him back, treat him and bring him back -- he's doing better now," said paramedic Matt Tizura.

Paramedics say the victim was alert and talking as he was transported to the hospital via ambulance.
