Mosquitoes with West Nile detected in Chicago area

June 30, 2011 (EVERGREEN PARK)

For the first time this year, mosquito samples in northern Illinois have tested positive for West Nile.

The samples were collected two days ago in Evergreen Park in Cook County, and in Oswego in Kendall County.

The state's first positive test for West Nile occurred more than two weeks ago in Tazewell County.

Health officials are reminding everyone to wear repellent and to get rid of any standing water.
