Suspect in Steger teen's death faces arraignment

July 18, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The victim, Danielle Dennis-Towne, disappeared from Nags Head, North Carolina, where she had been visiting friends over the weekend. Her body was found in the trunk of a car more than six hours away in the town of Clifton Forge, Va.

Local police in Virginia arrested Enrico Mascaro, 19, the owner of the car. He faces homicide and fugitive from justice charges in Dennis-Towne's death. A Monday arraignment on the fugitive charge was postponed until Tuesday afternoon in Alleghany County General District Court. Mascaro was expected to be extradited to Kitty Hawk, N.C.

Kitty Hawk police had issued a nationwide alert for Mascaro and Dennis-Towne after finding a crime scene. The crime scene included several items found in some Kitty Hawk woods that were traced to the pair, Nags Head Police Chief Kevin Brinkley said.
