A study in the European Respiratory Journal adds to the list of nursing benefits. It links breast milk to a reduced risk of asthma in children.

Researchers looked at over 5,300 young patients. They compared how long they were breast-fed with their rates of asthma related symptoms.

Results show, children who were never breast fed were at a 44 percent greater risk of wheezing, shortness of breath and dry cough.

The authors say the findings support current health policy strategies promoting exclusive breastfeeding
