A jury deliberated just two hours Friday before finding a Logan Square man guilty of the murder of a DePaul University honors student.

Prosecutors say that 21-year-old Narcisco Gatica fired a gun at a group of people two years ago in retaliation for being kicked out of a Halloween party in the 1700- block of North Rockwell. Francisco Valencia, 21, was killed and another partygoer was wounded.

Valencia was a rising star at DePaul, where he had just been named a student Lincoln Laureate, an annual award for excellence that's given to just one student at each of the state's four-year universities.
