1 killed, 1 injured in South Shore home invasion

October 29, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Chicago police say two or three three men kicked in the door of a home in the 7800-block of South Yates Blvd. shortly after 10 p.m. Friday. The men reportedly demanded money from the two victims.

When the men said they had no money, the robbers shot them, police said. Isaac Dotson, 50, died after being shot in the stomach. Police say the second victim, a 39-year-old man, struggled with the shooter before he was shot in the back.

"All I heard was a gun shot, and then I heard a young man say 'Please don't kill me. Don't shoot me, don't shoot me,' and they shot two times and I didn't hear nothing else," said a neighbor, Dinetta McReynolds.

Police say suspected drug activity in the area may be related to the home invasion. No drugs and money were found in the home.

No suspects are in custody.
