Children's doctors recommend HPV vaccine for boys

February 1, 2012

It is said to be the most significant change in the latest immunization schedule by The Pediatric Group.

The HPV vaccine has been available and recommended for girls and young women since 2006 for preventing cervical cancer.

The Pediatric Group says, currently, immunizing only girls isn't effective from a public health perspective since males are also participants in the transmission of HPV.

The CDC made the same recommendation last fall.
