Hurd was arrested in December in Chicago on drug charges stemming from an investigation in Texas. He is also accused of trying to create a drug distribution network dealing large amounts of narcotics -- obtained from a Mexican drug cartel -- in Chicago.
Hurd was released from his contract with the Chicago Bears after his arrest.
His trial was moved from April 2 to August 6 at the request of Hurd's co-defendant, who said he needs more time to go through all of the discovery. Hurd and Toby Lujan are both charged with conspiracy to possess and attempt to posses a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
