Emanuel announces high-tech school initiative

February 28, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and executives of five high tech companies announced the initiative.

One of the schools is Chicago Vocational; the others are Corliss, Michele Clark, Lake View, and a new school on South Homan.

The program is a partnership between Chicago schools, City Colleges, and the firms.

Students can opt in to the program, which is expected to be up and running in September.

After six years, graduates will have an associate's degree.
