British diplomat talks about NATO summit agenda

March 21, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The event will take place at the Gary Comer Youth Center on South Ingleside. It's located not far from where Mrs. Obama lived as a child. That event will take place on Sunday May 20th.

That same day NATO leaders will gather for a working dinner at Soldier Field.

The newly appointed British ambassador to the U.S. spoke with ABC7 about what's on the agenda for the summit.

"We're going to have smart defense on the agenda for the summit here in Chicago," said Sir Peter Westmacott, British Ambassador to the U.S. "We need to look at better, more intelligent ways of sharing the responsibilities. We also need to ensure, by the way, that the existing members of the alliance are assuming their responsibilities properly and are paying their share if you like."

The NATO summit will take place May 20th and 21st at McCormick Place.
