Cook County property tax bills on schedule

April 24, 2012 (CHICAGO)

If the county remains on schedule, property owners will have to pay their bills by August 1 this year.

The Cook County Board of Reviews said Tuesday that this will benefit schools, libraries and other local governments.

"By getting the tax bills out on time, every taxing body throughout Cook County realizes a savings, either by not having to take out tax anticipation loans or by not depleting their reserves," Board of Review Commissioner Michael Cabonargi said.

The Board of Review considered appeals on more than 341,000 properties this year.
