Loyola University Chicago bans bottled water sales on campus

May 3, 2012 (CHICAGO)

A press release Thursday announced the phase out of bottled water on Loyola's Chicago campuses.

Following a year-long educational campaign called "UnCap Loyola," students voted in March to phase out bottled water sales at the university. Starting in the fall, bottled water will be removed from dining service venues and catering. In 2013, bottled water will be eliminated from vending and other contracts.

"We consider the sale of bottled water on campus in conflict with the Jesuit tradition and Loyola's mission 'to be in service of humanity through learning, justice and faith," said Student Environmental Alliance and student government representatives in a joint statement.
