Alderman Brendan Reilly of the 42nd Ward wants to allow some Michigan Avenue businesses to put up the giant flashing signs.
Business centers would need to have at least 10 tenants. That would qualify places like Water Tower Place, The Shops at North Bridge, and 900 North Michigan Shops.
The Chicago Tribune reports the City Council's zoning committee is considering the ordinance.
