Area home prices up for second consecutive month

For the second month in a row, home prices rose in the Chicago area.

According to the Illinois Association of Realtors, the median price was up 1.7 percent over a year ago.

Within the city, the increase was even greater, up nearly 5 percent.

The median price of a house sold in Chicago was nearly $217,000 for the month of June.
