Chicago police say narcotics officers began their investigation last Friday after receiving information from The Package Interdiction Team, which works with other law enforcement agencies and commercial package carriers in detecting shipments of narcotics, that a 64-pound shipment of synthetic pot was en route to Chicago.
Officers executed a search warrant at a Northwest Side warehouse Monday. Officers say they recovered bundles of the cannabis emblazoned with stickers, including the cartoon character "Scooby-Doo" and labeled with the words "Scooby Snax."
"The labels clearly pose a danger with the intent to attract young children," a Chicago police news release says.
More than 100 cases of drug paraphernalia, including scales and plastic bags to package and ship the narcotics along with cash were also found inside the warehouse where two men were arrested, the news release said.
Davendra Patel, 61, of the 300 block of W. Tuttle Dr. in Bloomingdale, and Rajendrakumar Patel, 52, of the 4400 block of W. Lawrence Ave., were each charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance.
