Students heard experts speak on nanotechnology's role in traditional high school science curriculum.
Nanotechnology involves measuring and manipulating matter at exponentially small scales. Governor Pat Quinn says Illinois can seize a scientific opportunity.
"It's so important that we salute all the folks who are committed to this educational mission... we don't want to have a lack of skilled workers who know how to do highly technical complex things," said Gov. Quinn.
The National Science Foundation projects nanotechnology will generate 2 million jobs in the U.S. by 2020.
