Genetics researcher Gerald Crabtree: People getting less intelligent with each generation

A genetics researcher at Stanford University says people are getting less intelligent with each generation because we simply no longer need to be smart to survive.

Gerald Crabtree argues that humans may have peaked as hunter-gatherers who needed intelligence to find food and shelter. He says human genes have mutated over thousands of years as we shifted to agricultural and city life.

Critics say Crabtree's intelligence theory ignores many modern achievements such as writing, computers and space exploration.
