Motown Records founder Berry Gordy honored in Chicago

November 16, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Berry Gordy, the founder and creative force behind Motown Records, was at the Art Institute Friday night. On Saturday, he will be given a tribute by the public television series "Historymakers" for his vision in bringing stars like Stevie Wonder, the Jackson Five, and Diana Ross to fame.

"We didn't know we were making history, he told ABC7. "He were just in our little caccoon doing our thing, trying to do stuff we felt good about. And it's about love."

Gordy founded Motown Records in Detroit in 1959 and oversaw its operations until he sold it in 1988.
