Police presence increased outside Riverside schools

The police chief in Riverside has ordered a new initiative to increase police presence outside schools in that southwest suburb.

Patrol officers are now being asked to complete non-arrest paperwork while sitting inside their police cruisers in school parking lots.

Riverside police say, instead of officers returning to headquarters to complete their paperwork, it's a way for students to see police in a new light.
