CTA Blue Line trains resume service after track fire

March 5, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Trains were back to normal after a short time.

There were reports of smoke from a track fire at the Belmont Blue Line station, according to a CTA spokesperson. Power was shut off in both directions from Irving Park to Logan Square.

ABC7 News' Paul Meincke shot video of the fire which was apparently caused by garbage.

The CTA suggested that commuters could take 56 Milwaukee buses as an alternative to Blue Line trains.
