Michigan Avenue on alert after prior disturbances

A disturbance on Chicago's Michigan Avenue last Saturday that led to 17 arrests has an alderman calling for area businesses to foot the bill to increase police presence.

Police estimated that as many as 400 teens were out harassing people along the busy shopping area.

Eleven others were arrested in a separate incident at the CTA station at State and Lake Streets.

Alderman Brendan Reilly represents much of downtown Chicago and wants to ask business associations and non-profit groups to help pay for more police.
