The girls were trapped in their car while floodwaters on the road quickly rose.
According to the fire chief, the girls had driven around a high water sign and got stuck. Their car subsequently stalled.
Firefighters gave them a lifeboat to get on and pulled them to safety. The girls were given warm clothes and were sent into a waiting ambulance to be checked out. They are expected to be OK.
The fire chief reminds the public that high water signs are posted for a reason and should not be ignored.
