Adolph Herseth dies at 91 after legendary music career

April 15, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Herseth served the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as principal trumpet from 1948 to 2001.

During those 56 years, he served under five CSO music directors.

Deborah Rutter, president of the CSO Association released a statement, which read in part:

"His life was long, well lived and so magnificently filled with extraordinary music. The contributions he made as a performer, a teacher, a mentor and colleague to classical music, trumpet playing, and certainly to the CSO, are incalculable."

Adolph "Bud" Herseth was 91 years old.
