Crews repairing burst BP pipeline in Munster

November 13, 2013 (MUNSTER, Ind.)

A spokesperson for BP tells Eyewitness News that the company put water in the line and pressurized it to levels higher than usual to see if it would hold, but it did not.

Neighborhood residents had been notified about the work taking place.

"I thought maybe they just had a backfire or something on whatever they were testing. Until I looked outside and the green water was running down," said Dan Kritsch, resident.

Kritsch says neighborhood residents have been told that BP hopes to wrap up work on Wednesday night and retest the line again on Thursday.
