United Airlines takes Starlight kids on trip to North Pole

December 7, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Travelers might recognize the North Pole as gate C-20 at O'Hare Airport. Santa and Mrs. Claus were there to visit with boys and girls from the Starlight Children's Foundation.

Once they arrived at the North Pole they could take part in sleigh rides, face painting and caroling. There was even a full holiday meal.

The Starlight Children's Foundation helps children with special needs, chronic and serious illnesses. Organizers say the trip to the North Pole is a chance to let kids be kids and it gives parents a break.

"We love them, they are so important to us," said Waken Stinson. "I just can't tell you how much they have helped our family and they're just so wonderful."

United employees volunteered their time to make today's fun possible.
