A former Chicago alderman was sentenced to 10.5 years in jail on Friday morning.

Ambrosio Medrano was convicted of scheming to pay bribes for medical contracts and for receiving kickbacks.

Prosecutors say Medrano is a repeat offender. They want a prison sentence of between 14 and 17 and a half years.

Defense attorneys are hoping for no more than 9 years.

The 61-year old served time in the 90's for accepting a bribe.
