UIC faculty to strike April 23 if no contract

Faculty at the University Of Illinois Chicago set a strike date of April 23 if a contract agreement is not reached.

Unlike the two-day strike in February, the union said this strike would be indefinite.

The union and school administration have failed to agree on a contract after almost two years of negotiations. The main sticking point in the contract negotiations is pay. The administration reportedly says because of uncertainty in state funding it cannot commit to the pay increases the union wants.
