Chicago police said the elderly was in her car at a stop sign near 40th Street and Artesian Avenue when she was wounded, just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Witnesses said someone fired gunshots from a passing vehicle. A bullet entered the trunk of the victim's car, hitting the 76-year old woman in the shoulder.
Instead of stopping for help, police said the woman drove her white Buick two miles, to the 2400-block of West 55th Street.
She stopped next to Gage Park, which was full of families enjoying the mild weather.
No one is in custody. The shooting is under investigation.
