Vitamin C may hinder endurance

Many people take the antioxidant while training thinking it will protect their muscles from oxidative stress caused by muscle exertion. But researchers at the University of Valencia in Spain studied both humans and rats. They found that those who took vitamin C weren't able to work out as long as those did not take the supplement.

Researchers believe the release of free radicals during exercise may help muscles adapt and they think vitamin C interferes with this process.
