Yoga could help breast cancer survivors

Yoga is said to be good for the mind and body, and now a new study is backing those claims. It finds breast cancer survivors, in a program tailored just for them, found stress relief of severe hot flashes and other bothersome menopausal symptoms.

Women who participated in this eight-week course called "Yoga of Awareness" not only had greater declines in frequency and severity of their hot flashes, but they also experienced less fatigue, joint pain, sleep disturbance and symptom related distress. The improvements were still evident three months after the yoga sessions ended.

Researchers plan to conduct additional studies and teach the concepts to yoga instructors nationwide.
