CPS students rewarded for perfect atttendance

CHICAGO They won family vacations for going to school every day between March 1 and April 28.

The students were selected from more than 37,000 others who had the same two-month attendance record.

The vacations are part of an attendance improvement initiative. Schools CEO Arne Duncan says the goal is to increase the district's attendance rate by at least one percent every year.

Last year, the district's overall attendance rate was nearly 92 percent.
