Witnesses say the suspect drove a car on the sidewalk at Glencoe Park to avoid police but couldn't go any further without driving into Lake Michigan.
Witnesses reported seeing nearly 40 police vehicles on the scene. They also said the suspect appeared to be in custody.
As of Saturday morning, police had not released information about the cause of the chase.
