"I improvised on a recipe my 90 year old friend still makes to this day.," Marion said. "The cherries and pecans make them so festive and the best thing is the ease in making them....if the holiday season was really busy, these little gems can even be made on Christmas morning. They are rich, delicious and so festive."

1/2 pound melted unsalted butter
3/4 cup Powdered Sugar
2 cups sifted flour

Stir powdered sugar and flour into melted butter. Place rounded tablespoon pieces on ungreased cookie sheet 1 inch apart. Press marachino cherry pieces rounded side up (each cherry cut in half) on half of cookies. Place pecan halves on remainder. Cookies can be left plain and rolled in powdered sugar while slightly warm. Bake at 35

0 degrees 10-15 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
