The pilot of a small airplane made an emergency landing on a frozen pond -- in north suburban Grayslake Tuesday afternoon. It happened about four-thirty this near Route 120 and Lake Street.

Investigators say the plane started having engine problems and the pilot couldn't make it to a nearby airport.

The pilot landed on the ice instead. No one was hurt.

Police say a mechanic will come out Wednesday morning to work on the plane -- and the pilot will try to fly it off the ice.
